B & D ruffled bag

beandd.jpg

Be Inthavong and Steve Dumain have been cooking up bag creations on their kitchen table for the past year and the result is a line of luxurious bags with street chic appeal that have won the hearts of Hollywood trendsters. We are also won over by this tres adorable ruffled bag in grey putty with antiqued brass chains. The supple calf skin is ultra soft and the small linked chain detail toughens up this otherwise too frilly bag. We also love the color, so subtle and so classic! The design duo always asks themselves, "will someone's great-granddaughter pull this out of their closet and be excited by this bag?" And yes, I am certain my future great-granddaughter will be a total bag snob and so excited over this bag she'll steal it from my closet. $1280 at Saks.

Malo Suede Satchel

malokarung.jpg

How incredibly cute is this Malo satchel? As soon as I saw it I knew it would be mine!! It is suede with karung trim and velvet piping and the cute karung design on the front makes the bag absolutely adorable. It has all the features I look for, zip closure (everything seems to fall out of my bags) and it has 4 nickel feet (I even put my Birkins on the floor if you can believe it so details like this is essential for me). I love the mustard, it is a great all around color that is not brown. Yeah sure, brown bags are practical but they're just so boring. $2460 at Vivre .

Jamin Puech

jaminpuechantiquerose.jpgjaminpuechcharcoal.jpg

I saw Jamin Puech bags at a Japanese boutique - I was automatically drawn to them. The designs are so intricate and delicate and with craftsmanship that is so rare these days. It reminds me of old buildings with wood that have been carefully carved by artisans that did not pass on their skills. You really have to see them in person to appreciate it. Every stitch of each bag is beautifully made, the details are overwhelming, down to the self knotted toggle tie in the velvet beaded bag. The bag opens up like a box and the inside is lined with luxurious silk. The variety of materials used on each bag is truly extraordinary, they range from crystals to beads to plastic to macrame to cotton to raffia to rattan to lycra to leather to silk to wood and more if you can believe it. There is a definite ethnic tone to their designs and they articulate the multicultural feel by using craftsmen from Madagascar, Vietnam and India but the final product is put together in France to have the Made in France label. Although the designs are amazing, the look is not for me personally but I just had to share this treasure. Jamin Puech boutique in NYC 247 Elizabeth St (212) 431-5200 and Paris at 61, rue d'Hauteville (33) 01-40-22-08-32. Frame silk beaded bag $700, silk beaded velvet bag $660.

Marc Jacobs Mink Clutch

marcjacobsminkcluth.jpg

Every year around this time you see the fur bags. Most are ridiculously costumey but this one is actually wearable. Bag Snob girls have several simple rules, one of which is "fur on bags is bad", but this small and understated clutch is an exception because it doesn't look like a stuffed animal. It is the perfect accessory to make a plain drab dress into an exciting and talked about look without appearing like you are trying too hard. But don't wear this with your fur coat. That's an obvious no-no you should all know. At Barneys for $2500.

B. Romanek Alligator Wow

bromanekalligator.jpgrockstarcluthc.jpg

We love new designers with grass root upstarts that bypass the corporate "man". Brigette Romanek made bags for her friends; word spread from there and within months was picked up by Barneys. I love success stories like this, but that is not why she is our pick for someone to watch out for. Her entire line is alligator and croc with classic shapes that are essential for the investment in exotics but the prices are not such that warrant such careful thought. The Wow bag in alligator is $3195 for the small, which is the only size we like - the large is 11X22 and looks like you can fit an entire set of architectural blueprints in there. The detail of the flap with the irregular and somewhat organic scalloping (each bag varies) is not only a brilliant incorporation of the skin's characteristics but it makes the bag more relaxed and younger. The Rockstar clutch ($1625 for small) is what brought her notoriety, but it is not our favorite in her collection. The wrap around tail is scary but we can definitely see the appeal of the super hip style. Available at Barneys.

Pierre Hardy update

pierrehardybrownsuede.jpg

We predicted the popularity of Pierre Hardy's besace black suede bag with napa gold trim back in April and six months later, it is all over New York. Here is the latest version of the messenger bag in brown suede that's sure to set bag lovers' hearts a flutter. $1328 at Mona Moore, a cooler than thou boutique in Montreal that stocks hard to find avant-garde designer bags and shoes.

Bottega Veneta Spring 2007

snaketote.jpgbottegawoventote.jpgbottegapinkclutch.jpgbottegaprintdress.jpg

Can I just tell you, I'm in love with Tomas Maier. The Bottega Spring line is absolutely perfect, from the dresses (oh, the dresses!!!), to the shoes and of course the bags, all of which I want want want!! I have not wanted something so badly in my life - I need to look fabulous in those gorgeous dresses that are made to flatter real women (yes, like me who actually eats and works out and generally fit but not 90 lbs and a size 2). Even the dresses with the billowing train is beyond fabulous. The pallet for the collection is soft, luxurious and comforting. Maier has hit it big with the woven bags and he refreshes the look with new styles that will have loyalists coming back for more as well as win newcomers with classic pieces that are sure to last. You cannot go wrong with sheer perfection.

Dior Rebelle

diorrebelle.jpgdiorrebelle3.jpg
We have not been kind to Dior of late but we have to admit that we're secretly eyeing the Rebelle series of bags. They're funky and fun and for the girls who like to kick it low profile at King's Road Cafe instead of paparazzi hyped Ivy (by the way, I remember when The Ivy was a place I'd go to with friends and family for nice quiet lunches. We'd see celebs but it was not the zoo it is now full of attention craved starlets who secretly alert the paparazzi themselves when they'll be there. I miss LA the way it was when I was younger. Everytime I go home I am annoyed!). I really like the suede and leather combination, it gives the bag more texture. Actually, everything about this bag is cute, the side pockets are almost standard nowadays as we have so many gadgets to carry around but what I really like is the hook enclosure that secures the flap down so our valuables are safe even while we roam the busy streets of Milan or New York. We love the winter white but for more practical bag snobs, the dark brown is just as fab and will be easier to maintain. $1495 - $1595 at eLuxury.

Jimmy Choo

jimmychoomaddy.jpgjimmychoobag.jpg
Left: Maddy in red leather Right: Kasia in taupe suede

Now that voluptuous Molly Sims has replaced emaciated Nicole Richie in Jimmy Choo ads, we are feeling more love towards the design house. Especially with the introduction of fab new bags like city girl slick Maddy in red leather priced at $1500 (all the rage in Hollywood by the way) and casually chic Kasia in taupe suede for $1650. While the bags are not the most frugal deal in town, you can count on the impeccable English craftsmanship Jimmy Choo is known for. Jimmy Choo online store is officially open so you can shop whenever you feel like it! Just don't be like me and shop after a night of cocktails. Shopping under the influence is never a smart idea.

3.1 Phillip Lim Doctor's bag

philliplimbag.JPGlimdress.JPG
Phillip Lim got the Bag Snob's attention with his pret-a-porter collections but we're even more in love now that we've seen this urban chic frame bag. It's almost unfair that one person should have so much talent! This is a versatile bag that's ladylike enough for luncheons yet has a bit of rock and roll edge with the multi-brass chains (that may be pulled up to use as shoulder straps). You can definitely rock it with our fave Phillip Lim dress of the season from Net-a-Porter for a night out on the town. Doctor's bag $1195 at Barney's New York.

Lanvin Bags Fall '06

lanvin.jpglanvinbag2.jpg
Left: Brown patent Monsieur bag Right: Green satin Milan and magenta Madrid bag
I am a total Lanvin snob and can not get enough of Alber Elbaz! It's one of those out of control obsessions, although being ADD and OCD is not an excuse for my compulsive Lanvin habit (according to my hubby when the amex bill arrives each month) but who cares! I felt fabulous at the launch of "Fashion on Main" last night in my silk and chiffon Lanvin dress(okay, so I was fashionably late and only made it to the after party but that's not the point). The obsession does not end at his divine dresses, I love the quirky beaded necklaces sewn on black lace or sheer chiffon panels, the sky high stilettos, and of course Lanvin bags! This fall he shows again his love for all things jewel toned, offering slick patent leather, silky satin, and buttery soft leather bags in shades of ruby, emerald, and amethyst. Contact Lanvin for details.

edidi by Wendy Lau

edidigreen.jpgedidi3.jpg

For you bag snobs who are also jewel snobs, here is the ultimate bag. edidi by Wendy Lau is a fabulous collection of jeweled bags (but not in the Judith Leiber old lady way!) handmade by master craftsmen and specialized technicians in New York using US patented production procedures. Every bag has an average of 2,000 diamond shaped crystals in addition to handwired semi-precious stones. What a great way bling out for special occasions! Contact edidi for stores.

Fendi Pleated Clutch

fendiruffleclutch.jpg

Fashion Week is over and the anticipation and excitement and overload of goodness will have to wait another 2 weeks until Paris!!! And so for now..... back to bags! I've been excited about this little clutch from Fendi for a week now, it is so cute and interesting. All the little pleats add so much texture which is great for a small bag so it can be seen. Well, you know, other than rhinestones. This would be the perfect bag for daytime affairs that require dressing up, like special luncheons or showers. I'm always thrown off when someone wears something dainty and then slings a monster bag over her shoulder. It doesn't matter what fabulousness you're wearing girl, you just ruined it. Trust us, dressy daytime clutches are a necessity. Net A Porter sold out of this pretty quickly but we will give updates with other stores when available. There is a black version of this but there is way too much detail and randomly placed beading everywhere.

Anya Hindmarch

croccocker.jpganyablack.jpganyagold.jpganyaclutch.jpg
Clockwise from top left: Carker blue mock croc $1006/Carker black patent $987/Prague clutch in light bronze $460/ Perroz in bronze $1120 (all prices in approximate USD)

Designer Anya Hindmarch (named after two cool streets in London) and her line of classic bags, shoes, and well tailored clothes have been sought after by style-philes worldwide since the first bag she designed for British Bazaar in 1991. I used to shop at her boutique on Robertson(one of four in the US) often when I lived in LA and would always score sumptuous sweaters and cute shoes. One of our favorite readers, furlagirl, recently acquired a fabulous mock croc Carker which she absolutely adores. The structured top handle Carker bag has clean lines and no fuss details, which makes it an instant classic. She knew her choice was right on when the editor of an esteemed publication assured her it was a very worthy investment. Classics are always a smart choice, timeless chic never goes out of style! Select styles at net-a-porter. Check Anya Hindmarch for a location near you.

Spring 2007 Runway Bags

So after a whole week of fashion reviews, you bag snobs out there must be craving bags so here is a rundown, with detailed love it or hate it chatter to come. Big bags are here to stay, along with the big belts. We are seeing metallic for Spring, which makes us happy because honestly, who doesn’t love shiny things?

marccreamquilt.jpg

The most anticipated bag designer of course is Marc Jacobs. We were harsh on him but he is good at coming back with what works, which makes it boring for us cuz now we have nothing new to say, but good for buyers who won’t have to use their brains. Yes, more quilted Chanel style chain bags. This cream with larger quilting will be something we will be seeing a lot of. He also had some largely embellished bags, which are super fab, but didn't Prada do that a while back? We do love the chunky blocky with giant flower accessories on the runway.

oscarbluetote.jpg

We are quite pleased with Oscar de la Renta’s relaxed tote. The blue is truly to die for and it is going to make me buy an entire closet of ice blue for Spring. This tote isn’t quite slouchy which we are tired of, the structured handles gives it the polish Snob girls look for. If the New York Times say designers are describing this season's look as “collapsed”, then I would call this the “collapsed” Birkin.

korsgatheredtote.jpg

Michael Kors’ collection is not what critics are used to but I like it. Why can't he change it up a little? He's got a TV career now - he doesn't have all that time to tailor suits. It’s very 80’s; off the shoulder, layers, he still likes the leggings which I’m concerned about, but there were a few dresses that were cute enough to warrant an overall love it review. As for his bags, I’m only mentioning it because these are the kind of bags that everyone will be using but nobody talks about. It’s utilitarian with enough style to make it through the day, which says a lot if you are a regular person who just needs to carry stuff around.

Longchamp 4x4 Travel bag

longchampad.jpglongchamptravelbag.jpg

Europeans know that Longchamp is the brand to buy when looking for a lightweight and functional travel bag. Better known for it's ultra light nylon bags that fold into the size of a card, the design house is branching out with a new line of luxurious leather and suede bags with Kate Moss as it's latest muse (by the way, who isn't Kate working for these days?) The new 4x4 travel bag (no idea about the name, maybe it fits stuff for 4 days and 4 nights?) is available both in camel leather and chocolate suede and has multi pockets both inside and outside the bag which I love for stashing beauty essentials that I can access easily on a flight. As you can see, this is a roomy travel bag, Kate can almost fit in it. We are off to New York for Fashion Week so we might treat ourselves to one! My bet is they are featherweight compared to our birkins. At Longchamp worldwide or call 1-866-LONGCHAMP

The Effortless Style of Tod's

todschopperbag1395.jpgtodsbensonville1490.jpg

We're not usually suckers for print ads but check out the latest fall campaign from Tod's, one of our favorite designers if you haven't noticed. Do you not want to dive in and live the Tod's lifestyle on the palazzo? This girl is so chic in her Derek Lam designed Tod's clothes and hip Tod's bags, but not in the trying too hard way, it looks so easy and effortless (and yes, I know she has a posse of stylists and make up/hair people). I also love how these Tod's bags pop out against the background, it's not colors you'd pick out at the store but it's a gorgeous contrast against fall's somber palette. The scarlet red "Chopper" bag in calfskin is $1690, the jewel tone blue "Bensonville" is $1390, both at Tod's 333 N Rodeo Dr, Beverly Hills, (310) 285-0591

Mulberry Brooke Bag

mulberrychainbag.jpg
We've been harsh on Mulberry bags in the past but their line of urban chic bags are starting to grow on us. We still have an issue with it's military inspired bags but we are loving the new silhouettes for fall. The Brooke bag in bronze leather with modern open chain link is totally snob worthy and priced reasonably. We often get emails regarding the snob-worthiness of handbags and our advice is to get the very BEST bag that you can afford to buy. Whether it's a $200 bag or an $8,000 Hermes birkin, YOU must love the bag regardless of what fashion magazines (or anonymous bloggers) are telling you to buy. $560 at Mulberry.com

Tod's Bensonville

This is a slight departure for Tod's and I have to say, I like the younger feel. The distressed leather is of course a big hit these days and the entire look of this bag with the tab on the pocket is more laid back. This is a great bag for them to capture the market that is just below their bread and butter middle age crowd. What? No, I'm not middle aged, I just love Tod's. At eLuxury for $1390

Dior Homme

DiorManBag.jpg

The Man Bag from Dior Homme is chic enough for the girls and you probably won't have much luck convincing your man that metallic silver is 'the' hottest trend of the season so you might as well buy it for yourself to use as a diaper bag or hip messenger bag. Seriously though, it's the cutest man bag we've seen yet. Hedi Slimane, designer of Dior Homme, understands that just cuz you're a man it doesn't mean you have to act butch and look like the Tool Time guy, you can dress well, carry nice bags, and still look like a man. Too bad Galliano doesn't get the same sentiment for Dior women's line. I think his idea is to make women look as stupid and ugly as possible so he can outshine us all. Hogan Hobo

Hoganhobo.jpg

I know we seem like total sourpusses lately when it comes to large fashion houses but really, we're not totally jaded. Look at this adorable Hogan hobo bag from Tod's! As you all know, we're HUGE fans of Tod's, and we also love their secondary line Hogan. Hogan is Tod's answer to the casual and young hipster who still demands quality in the bags she carries. We love the subtle logo placement, it's so passe to have giant logos carry you. The cute little strap details on each side with pockets make the hobo shape more polished as does the gathering detail on the top. Hogan is less expensive than it's sister line Tod's, but unlike other secondary lines, they don't sacrifice on detail or material. Made of buttery soft Italian leather, this bag looks like it costs thousands but is only $995. At Neiman Marcus in yummy dark chocolate or crisp green (one of my favorite colors for fall!).

Chloe Studded Tote

chloeollie.jpg

This may not be one for the fashionistas but we are definitely predicting this to be a Hollywood favorite based on the distressed leather, giving it that laid back casual feel combined with the bedazzling studs, a crowd pleaser for the attention craved. And of course, the Chloe name helps the appeal. All in all, it's a so-so bag which means you will see Jessica Simpson with it. $1935 at Net-a-Porter.

Chanel Golf Bag

chanelgolfbag.jpg
For the true bag snob whose bag obsession runs deep, all bags, including golf bags must be fabulous. And if you own your own golf course, you cannot be seen with anything other than a Chanel golf bag. Although she doesn't own her own country club, I finally have the perfect gift for my mom! And come to think of it, my sister, too, and of course, myself. I wonder if they give volume discounts? $2,965. To purchase, contact New York Chanel Boutique (212) 355 5050.

YSL reversible tote

ysl muset tote- reversible.jpg- gold brown.jpgblack anthracite ysl muse tote.jpg

Tom who? YSL suffered a severe identity crisis when Tom Ford took over in 1999, while his trashy glam style rocked at Gucci, it was not the vision Yves St. Laurent had when he put women in effortlessly chic tuxedo suits in 1962. Since Ford's departure several years ago, however, YSL had managed to return to its classic roots under the creative direction of Stefano Pilati. Fashionistas around the world went crazy over the muse bag he designed last season and this season we are madly in love with the reversible muse tote bags! How practical and fabulous! The chocolate version reverses to bronze for nights out after work and basic black reverses to anthracite silver when you want to flip a little attitude. Both have long wait lists so call YSL asap! Gerard Darel Metallic Satchel

gerarddarelsilver.jpggerarddarelgold.jpg

All you stylish girls out there are in for a treat. We told you how hot Gerard Darel is so you will scream with delight for this glam and fab affordable satchel. Seriously, for $350 you can't even get a decent Coach or Furla but why would you want to? Trust us ladies, if you are hip and stylish with no access to a trust fund, you MUST get this bag. You will not be sorry. And did I mention I have a practical side? I am getting mine in silver because what goes better with white in the summer than cool silver? And Christmas is right around the corner so you can be sure to spot me at holiday party in something black and carrying this bag. How's that for money well spent? At Neiman Marcus.

Prada Gauffre Tote

pradagauffre.jpg

Miuccia is really loving all this ruching on bags and so are we! This bag is more quilted and not as sharpei-like as the Miu Miu coffer suede. We love that it can go from ultra conservative (think pencil skirt, collars, the whole thing) to funky casual. It just has so much character and interest you can even wear it with skinny jeans and no one will notice how unflattering your ass looks, they will only spot your super cool bag. At Saks for $1750.

Miu Miu Coffer Suede Bag

miu miu bag.jpg
How incredibly cute is this bag? Miuccia Prada's whimsical style shines through everything she designs for Miu Miu, her self professed alter ego. Unlike Prada's simple chic esthetics, the Miu Miu girl is funky, fun, and sometimes eccentric, but always fabulous! The Coffer suede bag in chocolate brown is to-die, we love the braided handle and the multi layered top flap, and the ruching on the suede makes it that much more luxurious (and yes, it does resemble a bit like your aunt's sharpei puppy but we'll forgive as it makes the bag SO soft). You know how practical we are, we wouldn't tell you to buy something that wasn't multi-purpose. This is also a wonderful bag to cuddle up to when you're on the plane, train, or chauffered automobile. $1295 at Net-a-Porter.

Jimmy Choo's Shiny Suede

jimmychooshinysuede.jpg

I vaguely remember bashing Jimmy Choo bags a while back, probably Nicole Richie's fault but I have to say, this is not a bad looking bag. I love the color and the mix of suede and shiny calf leather - it strikes some kind of perfect balance of exuberance for me. Although, I can do without the bottom exterior zipper, it throws things off a bit and from a practical standpoint, what are you going to put in there? A pencil? Tampon? Eh, I can do without it.
Saks for $1895.

Carlos Falchi Croc

carlosfalchicroc.jpg

One way to get yourself a croc is to go with a lesser designer. You still get to boast about having a real croc without having to sell your new Lexus. We love the shape of this bag, it makes the croc so much more versatile for everyday use, the problem though is when you go cheap, you get the shit part of the croc, meaning the gross scary tail. This bag tries to incorporate it into the design which is admirable but in the end you still have a slithery tail hanging over the middle of your bag. The croc dilemma is a tough one, do you go cheap or do you take public transportation? You can always go the embossed way as we suggested with the very good looking Armani but real is real and croco is not. Saks for $4650

Stella McCartney

stellaappaloosa.jpg

Stella McCartney has some great bags for Fall. This quilted Appaloosa bag is reminiscent of Chanel but it has a much younger feel for those of more recent births =) The chain is of course a big thing for fall and the color is a perfect all around camel, making it a great "only" bag purchase for the season (with the exception of sales and impulse buys of course).
stellabostonred.jpgstellafauxbucket.jpg

The Boston bag is great because it is a classic design and a red patent bag is such an amazing look with toned down monochromatic pants and sweater. It makes life so much easier when you have a bag that does all the work for you. And for the vegetarian monks or maybe just budget conscious bag lovers, Stella has a really cool slouchy bucket hobo that is faux leather. Call the New York boutique (212) 255-1556 or email for more information and to order.

Balenciaga Bowler

balenciaga bowler.JPGbalenciagaquilted.JPG

Nicolas Ghesquiere is THE hottest designer of the season, flip through any fashion mag this month and you will see his tres adorable bubble dresses and bowler hats for Balenciaga's fall collection. We love the silhouette he created for fall, enough of hoochie mamas with halter tops and jeans! Viva glamour and dressing well! We're also quite pleased with his latest bag creations. These chic bowler style handbags will give the tired old motorcycle le dix bag a run for the money! We love the casually elegant quilted version, it's destined to be a classic, that is if Nicole or Lindsay doesn't ruin it. Call Balenciaga store in New York for details 212-279-4440.

Celine's Asymmetric Bag

celineasym.jpg

Here is an interesting concept. I can't say that this Celine bag is the greatest looking, but I like the idea that it is asymmetric so that it tucks neatly under your arm and stays out of the way. Now this is an idea worthy of further investigation, you know, like design a good looking bag using this concept. I suppose the Dior Saddle bag is similar, but I said make a good looking bag. Or at least a good practical bag and not some gimmicky rodeo clown bag. Celine Asymmetic Bag $1550 at Net-a-Porter.

Edith Update, More Colors

edithputty.jpgedithchamois.jpg

Neiman Marcus has a new shipment of the Edith in Putty for $1275 and the large Chamois for $1720. I love the whisky for this bag but the chamois is so buttery it makes this structured bag a little softer. The putty is a great warm winter white but for this bag, it's not doing it for me. Get your's now if you want one because they are sure to sell out.

Jean Paul Gaultier Cross Body Hobo

JPGshoulder.jpgJPGshouldercloseup.jpg

I can't tell you how much I love this bag. As with the other JPG cross body bag we featured, this one saves the day for being the hippest, chic-est and most practical bag ever! This bag is going to change my life because no longer do I have to strain the crook of my arm with a Birkin in order to be glamorous. The natural toffee leather is perfect for daytime jaunts around town with whatever you are wearing. We love the strap detail - it can either be looped around or tied in a knot. It's details like these that make us dance with joy like little girls. Pre-order at Neiman Marcus for $995.

Armani "croco" bag

armani croc 2.jpgarmani croc.jpg

Usually we would turn our cute little noses up at stamped crocodile but this is such a beautiful bag and the embossed leather is so luxurious (I saw it in person, it's to-die!) that even the most seasoned leather craftsman would have a hard time discerning it from the real thing. And it is Armani afterall, with the exquisite details and craftsmanship you'd expect from him. For those of you who want the luxe look of exotic skin but don't want to shell out $18,000+, here is a nice alternative and don't worry, we won't tell if you won't. $1,495 at Nordstrom.

Chanel Paris New York Collection

Chanel 18.jpgChanel 3.jpg

Fall goodies are starting to arrive at your local Chanel boutique so it's time to start budgeting for your indulgences of the season! I stopped by Chanel last week and picked up a to-die-for winter white python bag that I plan to wear with EVERYTHING this fall. I also gave in to my insatiable Chanel craving and ordered a black distressed patent double chained flap bag from the Paris-New York collection, platform wrapped pumps in black, a belt with fabulous buckle, and a J12 watch in white with pink sapphires. I figure Chanel is one of those addictions that there is no cure for so why fight it? I mean there are worse things in life to be addicted to, like Mariah with her fried chicken.

Modern Bag Snobs need our hands free to answer text messages on our sidekicks while toting around our toddlers and husbands/boyfriends so who has time to juggle a handbag? JPG solves our dilemma with this tres hip anthracite "cross-body bag", one of the biggest trends for Fall according to Neiman Marcus and the Bag Snob agrees wholeheartedly! Metallic has become a neutral and a must have staple in your bag wardrobe, you keep emailing us with questions of it's longevity and we promise, it will last longer than those platform pumps you've been yearning from Louboutin. We love the super hippie tassles and the braided details on the front flap, making this much more glamorous than your average messenger bag. $1495 @ Neiman Marcus.

Tod's Paro Suede bag

tods paro bag.jpg

Brand new for fall in a golden hued vachetta stamped suede, the Paro from Tod's is a must have for bag divas. The stamped suede is much more durable than traditional suede and the texture is so lush I just want to rub on it all day long. We also love the round shape of this bag, it's a nice change from all the square and rectangular bags we're seeing everywhere. Plus it just looks so happy! The gently curved lines on the bag and the outer pocket all look like giant joyful smiles :) $1250 at Neiman Marcus

Gerard Darel Flap bag

Gerard darel.jpg
Apparently Gerard Darel is so hot in Europe stores can not keep it's signature flap bag in stock. After doing some sleuthing, we discovered that this Parisian design house has been owned and managed by it's founders since 1971, which gets The Bag Snob's approval! Choosing popular French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg as it's spokesmodel and muse is also a brilliant move, her mother is Jane Birkin, and may propel the flap bag to the iconic status of the bag her mother inspired, the Birkin. Grab yours now before Neiman Marcus sells out(remember the chocolate Gryson that sold out within hours after we gave it our stamp of approval?). At $625 we suggest you get both the black and the brown!

Net-a-Porter Sale

index-1.jpgindex-2.jpg
index-3.jpgindex.jpg
Yes, so Net-a-Porter is a little slow coming on the sale scene, but girls, it is worth the wait!! And since our job is to advise you on smart buying decisions, we picked a few sale bags that would be great for Fall. Hey, who knew we could be so practical? But how great is it to buy a bag on sale NOW for the next season? Too good to be true. But the sale is on everything, including super cute summer dresses that you still have time this season to wear.

The Celine Clandestine frame bag is a true classic. We loved it in pink but even better for long term use is the black. You will use this for years and it's on sale for only $837 (originally $1395).

The Bottega Veneta Leather and velvet bag is a bag we absolutely love and red is THE color for Fall. The embroidered detail is sooo beautiful. $1,780 on sale for $1,068.

Amazingly, the uber popular Marc Jacobs Ursula Bowler Bag is on sale. Metallic is of course perfect for the holiday season and it looks like the trend is going to continue because a lot of Fall bags are coming in metallic. So all in all, this is a smart buy for $645 (was $1075.00).

The Bottega Veneta Karung Snakeskin Bag was $3,150 and on sale for $1417.50. It is a great price for exotic and it is especially good for the coming holiday season. We love this bag for the tortoise shell chain handle.

The "Politically Correct" Snob

matt and nat patent.jpgmatt and nat red.jpg
Matt and Nat Vegan-friendly Bags $80 - $125

We know you've pegged us as fur lovin'- leather totin' -meat eatin' chicks who have nothing better to do but make fun of sense and style challenged celebs (and you'd be absolutely correct!) so we wanted to show you our softer and kinder side. No, we're not going to stand naked behind display windows at Stella McCartney but we will tell you where to find Vegan friendly bags by Matt and Nat. A fave of Gwyneth, Natalie Portman, and other self righteous starlets because they use 100% cruelty free synthetic leathers. Matt and Nat claim their bags can pass for "real animal leathers", which brings me to a thought, why the hell would you want a bag that looks and feels like leather if the whole point is to discourage the use of leather? It's like the buddhist vegan restaurants we used to go to that had soy products made to look like shrimp or meatballs, doesn't that defeat the purpose of being vegetarian if you're 'pretending' to eat meat? Anyway, whatever, here is our contribution to PETA awareness and politically correctness. Matt and Nat Bags at Luna Boston and Bennetts.com. One more thought, so it's better to promote the use of PVC synthetic leather that is known to cause environmental pollution and certain cancers in HUMANS? Just a thought.

Still in Love with Bottega Veneta

bottegacervocrocker.jpg

We are still in love with Bottega Veneta's crocker hobo a year later (how many loves can you say that about?) and it's back this fall in mouth watering chocolate. How can you go wrong with a bag that has just enough detail to show off it's craftsmanship yet tasteful and easy to wear with anything? You can tell by the intricately braided handle and woven outer pockets that these artisans are descendants of those who built the Vatican (I just made that up. OK, maybe not literally but it's the same kind of Italian blood). Pre-order at Saks for $1780 also availabe in black. More Bottega styles available at Net-A-Porter.

bottega.jpgbottegabraidedhandle.jpg

Also for fall are the Pepe flap bag with lock for $2380 and the Braided Handle Tote for $1550. These are also pre-order items through Saks.

The luxury of Loro Piana

loropianaglobe.jpgloropianaglobehazel.jpg

We all know there is nothing more heavenly than having a Loro Piana cashmere scarf. Their patented technique of spinning their yarn gives it that shimmer and the bright colors. You just feel like a million bucks when you throw that on even if it's over some haphazard outfit. Which is why it is so great for traveling, it's light and you can use it as a blanket instead of the scratchy, pellet-y, god-knows-who-used-it-and-whether-or-not-they-actually-cleaned-it-before-they-put-it-in-the-bag blanket they give you on the plane (even the first class ones are not up to snuff). So from the house that bring us that kind of luxury, you know their bags were made with the same care and consideration. These are not your hip trendsters - like a reliable Tod's bag, this will wear for decades and hold up to our daily grind in and out of cars, airports and up and over chairbacks and strollers. The globe bag features special seams on the sides that allow it to fold in and collapse (as shown in picture) or stand up and be a tote! Ingenious! We love them transformer bags - it's like having multiple bags. It comes in 3 sizes. The mini is just cute even if it's not as functional but get it in red and you will be super hot this Fall with the "it" color of the season.

Both the Mini Fjord Globe for $1795 and Medium Fjord Globe for $1995 are available at Neiman Marcus.

Gold Medal for Pucci

puccigoldmetalic.jpgdvfshorts.jpg

This metallic Pucci may seem a little much for our taste but with the right outfit, it is super chic. This is the answer to the summer challenge of wanting to wear something easy without looking like a total slob. Especially if you decide to have lunch at a nice outdoor cafe, you do not want to look like a dog walker on her break! These long shorts with gold stitching, a cute top, high strappy sandals - and with this bag, you will have the ultimate fab summer outfit that can even take you all the way to a night out on the town - for those occassions when lunch with wine end up becoming dinner and drinks. $1340 at Net-a-Porter.

YSL Severine

yslseverine.jpg

Just to be fair because we do like YSL, here is a perfectly beautiful and rational bag that we love! These are the kind of bags we really encourage for the occassional shoppers - just sticking to the basics. This is a little mature but cute and hip youngster like our Bag Snob fans can certainly liven this up with a funky outfit. And that is the lesson of the day - go funky with your clothes but keep your bags tasteful. Pre-order the Severine at Bergdorf's $1595.

Calf Hair for YSL Fall

yslhairmuse.jpgyslhairmuseclose.jpg

YSL has the calf hair Muse in metallic anthracite for Fall. It's shaven very close so from afar it just looks nice and silky but I have to be honest, touching it creeps me out a bit. The Muse is going to be the bag for Fall so I suppose this would make you stand out and be different. Everything but the hairy part makes me happy about this bag. Pre-order at Bergdorf Goodman $1895.

yslhairmuseleopard.jpgyslfauveivory.jpg

And if you really really want to stand out, the Fauve comes in leopard print calf hair for going to Las Vegas. To make matters worse, it comes in the oversized version as well. Camel or Ivory, take your pick, they are equally gross. Just make sure you're wearing a low cut tank top, have big hair, chain smoke and are totally hammered the entire time you carry this bag. And make sure you go see Siegfried and Roy. Get it at Bergdorf Goodman $1595 and 1995 for the oversized.

Marni

marniwhite.JPGmarni brown and cream fame.JPG
Magazine writers throw around words like "casually edgy", "edgily romantic", and the ubiquitous "cutting edge" even when the description is far from the designer they are writing of. Although being "edgy" is what every young designer aspires to, none come close to the unique and imitable Marni. Consuela Castiglione, designer of Marni, has been designing funky clothes and bags for years but has never really hit it with the mainstream and Marni loyalists want to keep it that way! Like the other artsy Italian designer Miucia Prada, Consuela marches to her own beat and loves experimenting with bold shapes and colors. Not everyone gets Marni's quirky style but the ones who do are hooked for life! Although they are not major investments, most bags are under $900, Marni bags are cherished by bag collectors for their whimsical style and craftsmanship.

I love this white frame bag with leather, plexi, and steel psychedelic discs, it's like a piece of pop art on your bag! When you're done using it you can frame it and hang it in your closet.

The 60's inspired brown and cream frame bags with tortoise shell clasps are trec chic. The color block trend doesn't seem to work on clothes but on little bags it rocks!

Select styles from Marni is available at Net A Porter, the greatest online boutique in the world!
marni.jpg
We first featured this bag a couple of months ago when it showed up on the Marni fall runways and still think it is one of the best bets for fall. Contact Marni store for more details. MARNI 161 Mercer St, New York, 10012 - (212) 343-3912

Venus Satin Clutch

louboutin BLACK SATIN.jpglouboutin shoes.jpg

Our obsession with Christian Louboutin (we own almost every pair of shoes he made in the last few seasons!) continues with this gorgeous black satin clutch. There is nothing sexier than a pair of stilettos and a silky bag, you can wear jeans with a t-shirt and still look ragin' hot! The Venus is generously sized to hold more than the requisite lipstick and change. This is a bag for high maintenance girls (meaning me) who need her cosmetic case filled with 10 shades of lipgloss (for custom blending of course!), silver eyeliner, pink blush, and KAI gardenia perfume oil (this will make your man melt, I promise!) for an evening out. I also never leave the house without my cell phone, wallet, Hermes brag book with baby photos, and candy (those who know me know that I need to eat constantly!). $895 at Net-A-Porter (free shipping extended until June 30th for bag snobs!)

The Gryson Skye

gryson bag.jpg
Joy Gryson, former Director of Design and Development for Marc Jacobs handbags and accessories (remember the Stella, Sophia, and Zoe bags?), has struck out on her own and created a line of edgy bags at prices that won't make you homeless. Her bags are reminiscent of Marc Jacobs' pre-Louis Vuitton days and we love them! Gryson's approach to design is to make the inside of a bag as beautiful as the outside and making this level of luxury approachable and affordable. I love this Skye leather satchel and have ordered mine in chocolate brown for fall. The braided handle adds sophistication to this other wise casual bag. I won't be using the shoulder strap but for those of you who need both hands free for cell phone and starbucks this is the perfect bag! $695 at Bergdorf Goodman. Pre-order yours today! At these prices they will be sold out before Labor Day.

Mini Mini Wristlet

stellaminiwrislet1.jpgstellaminiwrislet.jpg

You know how we said we are rebelling against monster bags? Here is our ultimate in minimizing, the Stella McCartney Wristlet. It barely holds enough to leave the house for 5 minutes but we LOVE it!! I suppose if you have a simple lock on your front door, you could put your one key and some cash in there but make sure they're large bills. My chiropracter would love it. I should take this to my next appointment to freak him out. But of course, some other giant bag will waiting in the wings in my car. $295 at Net A Porter.

Crochet Novak

novakcrochet.jpgnovakcrochetcloseup.jpg

We first featured the Novak by Alexander McQueen last September when it made its debut and labeled it the next cult classic. It has gotten a lot of press but we feel this bag will really hit the big times with variations like this leather crochet in white. Brilliant! If you love white, this is a great bag to get because white really shows off the amazing detail, I can't do this with yarn much less leather! We are betting Fall will bring us other creative versions of this unique constructed bag. It's about time for the backlash of the slouchy hobo bag (which we love but fashion is all about rebelling against itself to stay alive). We like the size of this bag, it's not the monster that is so in right now - we are rebelling that trend by only wearing wristlets and clutches this season. But then we will be back on big bags later, just not the body swallowing ones. At Net-A-Porter for $1915.

Not Your Average Wallets

Now that you have the greatest bag in existence, is it important what goes in the bag? Well, of course! You can't exactly carry a Chanel 2.55 and pull out your nylon Velcro wallet from high school!!! (That would never happen, of course, because you never owned one, right?) We have received a lot of emails asking us about wallets, so here they are. These are not your run of the mill so go ahead and get the Prada nylon if you want, you just don't need us for that.
chloewallet.jpg
The Chloe C-Buckle wallet has everything you need on the inside, including zipper coin compartment. It will hold all the credit cards you need and has plenty of room for cash and receipts and other loose pieces of paper but does not have room for a check book (but who uses checks anymore?). $480 at Net-a-Porter.

Lanvin London

lanvinlondon.jpg

We are totally in love with Lanvin lately. Alber Elbaz has created another gem with this London bag. The simple and tasteful structure is given a twist with cushiony leather and plexi chains, making it edgy yet maintaining its classic appeal. It is Steve McQueen cool and will be a well used bag in your collection. This snob worthy bag is a smart buy at $1195, available at Barney's New York.

Chinese Blossom Wristlet

beavaldeswristlet.jpg

Have you ever seen anything as cute as this? This wristlet with a satin handle is embellished with sequins and crystal teardrops. You will be the talk of the party with this bauble bag. This luxurious evening bag is from Filipino designer Bea Valdes who isn't shy about using sequins, crystals, semiprecious stones, chandelier drops and vintage feathers on her bags. These "babies" as she calls them have been officially adopted by The Bag Snob as well. She debuted her collection last summer. Available at Barney's New York for $2200.

VBH glitter clutch

vbh silver clutch.jpg
This simple and elegant silver clutch from VBH really appeals to our newfound minimialist sensibilities. We are sick of crazy looking bags with dangling sagging nonsense. As our friend Stella Bennent would say, less is more. But don't think VBH skimps on quality, every bag is meticulously handcrafted by craftsmen in Italy. This little beauty is lined in grey suede with a silver numbered plaque for authenticity. We love that it is covered in silver glitter, it will shimmer in the summer moonlight and go with all your cute little summer frocks. $895 at Net A Porter.

My iPod is the Coolest

chloeipod.jpg

With all the iPods out there, how do you tell them apart? Well, nobody mistakes my iPod from the rest in its Chloe gold leather holder. My husband protested on grounds that the holder itself costs almost as much as the holdee but how do you put a price on distinction? Besides, if that were true, I would always have to carry wads of cash in my bag to make sure the contents of my bag is worth more than the bag. So the point is, I don't listen to him when he is being unreasonable. $280.00 at Net A Porter.

Lanvin Vintage "Hero"

lanvin vintage hero bag.JPG

We are digging the vintage vibe of the Lanvin "Hero" bag! The distressed brown leather with no logo nor monogram is beyond cool and we love the delicate brass chain and Greek "hero" medallion. This is a bag that will take you from day to night effortlessly. Two zippered outer pockets for easy access to cell phone and money. And at 10x14, the size will not dwarf you. $1225 @ Barneys New York.

Pierre Hardy

pierre hardy.jpg

PIERRE HARDY, remember this name because soon you will be coveting everything this man creates. Hermes' low profile shoe designer (he is also responsible for the edgy Balenciaga shoe collection) has become so hot in Hollywood he is receiving requests from Nicole Kidman for custom made shoes and handbags for the Oscars and SAG awards. Known mostly in the fashion industry for reviving the House of Dior's shoe collection in the late 1980's, he has since struck out on his own and created a loyal following of die hard fashionistas who keep his name to themselves. His fall bag collection is a breath of fresh air compared to Fendi and LV's pathetic collections and we predict that mass hysteria and consumption will soon follow. This gorgeous black bag with silver piping is on the top of our list for fall! Order yours today! $1400 @ Pierre Hardy Paris Boutique- 156, galerie de Valois Jardins du Palais Royal. 33 (0)1 42 60 59 75. Worldwide.

It's a Mod Mod World

marni.jpgALLESANDRO DELL'AQUA MIRROR BAG.jpgchanel vinyl.jpgcalvin patent.jpg

(Clockwise from top left- Black and white patent frame bag by Marni. Patent Mirror bag by Allesandro Dell'Aqua. Black patent top handle bag by Calvin Klein. Vinyl Bag by Chanel.)

Dust off your go go boots cuz the '60's are back in full swing! We have not seen so much patent leather since Goldie Hawn was bouncing around in a cage. From cult fave designers Marni and Dell'Aqua to classic favorite Chanel, it seems everyone has gone psychedelic. My favorite is Allesandro Dell'Aqua's patent mirror bag, how fabulous to be able to look at yourself all day long! But vanity doesn't come cheap so start saving up now, early fall deliveries of bags begin mid-summer.

Summer Lovin'

miumiusummer.jpg

Is it summer yet? I can't wait until June so let's just pretend it's summer already by going out and getting this super fabulous Miu Miu Summer frame bag. This is the larger version of the must have for Spring which is what we need because why would we necessarily have less things to carry in the summer? I mean, isn't it the opposite? I like to carry flip flops and an extra change of clothes when it's hot so that I am always fresh. I love love the knotted rope handles, it just makes this bag so perfect for casual outfits, like the super cute Da-Nang capris I got yesterday, while still looking put together. Available at Neiman Marcus for $750.

Combining two important looks of the season, the small bag and black/white chic, the Ursula pochette is a fresh interpretation of an old classic. Bottega Veneta Litchi Fume

venetacrocsm.jpg

Be still my heart! The Bag Snob is in love! We've been raving about the brilliant Tomas Maier for months now and he has proven once again to be one of few great designers left in the dying fashion industry. The latest in the Bottega empire, the Litchi Fume, is the cream of the crocodile crop this season. We love the slouchy hobo shape, which is casual, young, and fun. But the richness of the camel crocodile skin also makes this one of the most elegant bags to covet this year. And at $10,100, it is a steal! (compared to $18,000 for Chanel, YSL, Ralph Lauren, and Prada crocs). Available on special order from Bottega Venetta stores worldwide (5th Ave Boutique 212-371-5511).

Haute Baby

Is it possible to look chic AND tote around a tot? It is if you are the Bag Snob. We've been using our treasured Hermes birkins as diaper bags but after my last trip to New York where my son dumped an entire bottle of Purell sanitizer into my beloved Rouge H birkin and smashed all of his crackers on top of that, we decided to re-consider a few more practical options. Here are some of our favorites that will keep you stylin' even when you're covered in throw up.

Continuing with our white bag obsession, here is one of our favorites of the season from Bottega Venetta. Creative director Tomas Maier, a former swimsuit designer, has breathed new life to this formerly frumpy design house and fashionistas around the globe are taking notice. This fabulous slouchy bag has gun metal grey hardware, baby blue suede lining, and pouch pockets on both sides. We love the sturdy braided handle that stays put, there is nothing more annoying than flimsy handles that slip off your shoulders all day long! $1,100 at Net-a-porter

Marc Jacobs' Uptown Grunge

marc jacobs fall 06.jpgmarc jacobs fall -6 4.jpgmarc jacobs fall 06 3.jpgmarc jacobs fall 06 2.jpg

Marc Jacobs returned to his grunge roots for inspiration this fall. The result is a surprisingly fresh mix of his new high fashion status as head desginer of the largest fashion conglomerate in the world and his old street punk sensibility. Who else could make flannel could look so chic and elegant? He showed it all with ladylike handbags with a rock n' roll edge and we love it! The tortoise shell chain details, subtle hardware, and exotic skins like rich suede and python make us wish we could bypass summer and go straight into fall. It's obvious the boy genius who was once fired from another large French Fashion House is having the last laugh. It may also be the reason he saves all the best for his own line and mocks the "House of LV" with the crap he doesn't want.

Chloe Edith Satchel

large edith.jpglarge edith 2.jpg

For the fashionista whom bigger means better, here is the ultimate fix. The Chloe Edith in grande. How fabulous is this? At 15" wide it's big enough to carry an extra change of clothes just in case you have a "Paris" moment and end up in a stranger's bed with lights and camera. And at $1575, you're getting a lot of bang for your buck. At Bergdorf Goodman.

The Denim Spy

In keeping with our consistency of featuring every single version of the Spy Bag available, here it is in denim. In general, denim bags are totally trailer trash but with all the detailings in the embroidery on this Denim Spy, it just makes it all the more decadent (especially when it's $3,090 for a denim bag)! And you know us, we bathe in decadence. (But it's all in the details, I tell you, because the Hobo Denim Spy is just trashy and should not be confused with what we are talking about here, although we would never seriously carry a denim bag). Fendi Bags are available at eLuxury.

Fendi Spy Satchel

Finally! The Spy Bag in a smaller version for everyday use (and for those of us who are not vertically blessed at 5'11"). This is still a roomy bag at 14" wide and the honey leather is the perfect neutral shade for spring. Snatch it up quickly before eLuxury sells out! Ashley Olsen take note, your bag shouldn't fit you AND your twin even if she is anorexic. $1,300 at eLUXURY.

Carnivale of Couture

Predictions for 2006

Here we go, as one must, commit to print and be laughed at later when we are all wrong. But for the BagSnob, we are certain that 2006 will bring change to this world of bohemia that we so dread. Don't get us wrong, we LOVE Moulin Rouge, its our favorite movie, but lets leave Bohemia to the oh-so-talented, charmingly and tragically impoverished artists and indulge us with expensive, excessive and principle bending desires. Sienna Miller and the dwarf twins - you are out, you must leave. Auf wiedersehen.

So here it is, we are predicting feminine, pretty and ladylike handbags. And for the expensive and excessive trend? CROC!! Crocs will dominate the scene to the point where they become extinct this year. Seriously.

hermeslongkelly.jpgmarcjacobsbethcroc.jpg

Hermes has refashioned the Kelly to be slimmer and more ladylike. The Marc Jacobs Beth in white croc is the perfect example of the pretty and feminine trend we will be seeing a lot more of.

Luxury By Chanel

Luxury by chanel metallic silver chain bag.jpgluxury by chanel vintage tote.jpg

The Kaiser has an eye for the obvious. This is what he's calling Chanel's spring line of fabulous metallic bags, "Luxury by Chanel". No shit, really? Anytime you pay thousands of dollars for a bag you better hope it is luxurious. We do love these adorable shiny bags though, no matter how stupid the name is! We also have a suggestion for next season, "Overpriced by Chanel".

Can't get enough of the Chloe paddington but can't get your greedy hands on more than one color? The new paddington saddle bag should satisfy your obsession! Marc Jacobs Adina

marcjacobsadina.JPGmarcjacobsadinablack.jpg

The Adina bag in drummed goat skin, the yummiest concoction from Marc Jacobs' fall line is "to die for"! Or in some cases "to steal for"! (names will not be mentioned to protect the guilty). In creamy ivory or biker chick black, this is the urban chic bag to carry this fall. We are enamored with everything about it, the super cool antiqued brass hardware, the perfect slope to fit under your armpit, and the wide flat strap to ensure it doesn't slip off your shoulders while multi tasking with both hands. Louis Louis

louis spring 06- red.jpglouis 2006.jpgred louis 2006.jpglouis 2006 1.jpg

We all have memories of embarrassing fashion moments in the 80's but admit it, it was fun to dress so outrageous and stupid! You know what I'm talkin' about, neon tights and leg warmers, hairspray and Versace, and loud gold jewelry with everything. Leave it to Marc Jacobs to bring it all back with a bang. His spring 2006 Louis Vuitton show looked straight out of an '80's fashion shoot. We love the colorful tongue in cheek bags he created with luxe touches such as crocodile trim and gold grommets. Thank god the Murakami was nowhere to be seen! Get a red hot crocodile trimmed LV bag or a yummy white frame bag with tortoise shell chain and indulge in a flashback of the 80's!

Bottega Beauties

bottega venetta flower bag 1.jpgbottega venetta flower bag.jpg

In a season where most designers are rushing to create the next "it" bag even if it means sacrificing the artistic integrity of "design", the house of Bottega has stayed focused on making beautiful bags. We love the signature Bottega weave chain strap and the fabulous floral appliques details on this limited edition hand tooled sienna intreciatto leather bag. But beauty doesn't come cheap, retail price at $2750 on Net-a-porter.

bottegavanetta.JPGweaveonrunway.JPG

This ain't your grandmother's old weave bag. Bottega Veneta has also released limited edition bags like this leather and velvet open weave bag(left) to hipsters around the world. It takes 48 hours to weave the leather strips by hand to create each bag ($3,850 each). Run and get your BV bag asap. They are sure to become collector's items.

September 21, 2005

The Chloe Paddington

redpaddington.JPGThis is the HARDEST bag to get this year. If you flip through the latest mags, only the hippest "it" girls have it. The Blue Nuit is as hard to get as the secret ingredient in coca cola. If you can't get your hands on this must have color, you can settle for the chocolate (fab!), red (yummy!), camel (classic!), or electric cobalt blue (ick!). Net-A-Porter sold 376 bags in 36 hours and now has 700 names on their wait list. The other option is to go for the Silverado bag worn by secondary "it" girls like Jessica Simpson (we are being generous here with Jessica's status after that trashy pajamas outfit she wore to the VMA's).

Why do we love this bag? The leather is super slouchy and soft but ultra durable and scratch resistant. The medium size is functional for everyday and it’s perfect for a fun night of clubbing as well. The pockets on both sides are great for sliding in your cell phone and keys. The downside, it weighs in at a hefty three pounds! The lock alone is half a pound but the Paddington is just not the same without it so us fashion slaves will just have to look fabulous toting it straight to our chiropractors office.

The Fendi Spy

spy velvet1.JPGSpy bag blue.jpg

This bag is the envy of the season. It's a favorite of Linda Evangelista's, who is a lifetime member of our "It" girls. Scared of living reptiles like we are? The blue crocodile ($33,000) is to die for. Whichever you desire, don't desire it too much because they are next to impossible to get your hands on so take a few extra moments here to enjoy these photos and then move on to pine for the next big thing.

Chanel 2.55

255black.JPG 255silver.JPG 255white.JPG

There are two bags you need to know about, the Birkin is one and the other, the Chanel 2.55. A typical Chanel handbag you say? Well, helllooooo, it’s called an icon! History was made when Coco Chanel introduced this bag in February 1955 (as in, 2.55). Coco wanted a shoulder bag to free up her hands. Hey, she had other things to carry. The quilts were inspired by jackets worn by jockeys (yes, jockeys). This classic is being reissued for this season in white, black and silver, which we love the most. For the collectors out there, this is a must.

A little Gucci from Santa

Is September the new December? Why else would every store in America have Christmas trees and obnoxious ornaments on display already? If you have received a stack of invitations to holiday parties and have nothing to put you in the holiday spirit, get this adorable Gucci beaded evening bag with lizard trim. It's sparkly yet elegant and big enough to hold your cell phone, lipgloss, and credit cards. Neiman Marcus may be on to something here... is Santa comin' to town early?gucci xmas bag.jpg

Kelly on the Runway for Fall

kellycrocrunway.JPGfallrunwayhermes.JPGminikellyrunway.JPG

The Hermes Kelly bag is making a splash of a comeback this season. It was all about the original classic that set fashionistas scrambling on the fall runway. The chocolate crocodile can be yours for $18,000. The mini kelly is ultra chic for evening and is more attainable than it's larger counterpart. If you splurge on one thing this season, splurge on a Kelly bag.

Alexander McQueen's Novak

novakbrown.JPGnovakred.JPG

This bag has all the qualities of being 'cult status'. First of all, Brit Alexander McQueen is as cool as can be. His unique combo of edgy and ultra luxe has both uptown girls and downtown chicks panting for more.

YSL Bow

yslblowbagmetallic.JPGyslbowbag.JPG

It's all about feminine and flirty touches this seasons. Which is why we LOVE this ultra fem YSL bag with bow. The napa leather is fab for every occassion but the metallic leather is the one that we must have. It will be perfect for all the glittery holiday parties!
