Etername Fine Jewelry US Launch

user-pic6

French brand Etername is launching in the US this fall! If you read foreign glossies, you've likely seen the brand in French Vogue, Elle, L'Officiel, Stiletto, and Le Figaro or oogled the pieces on the likes of Sharon Stone, Diane Kruger, Julie Gayet, and Natalia Vodianova. The line, designed by Sarah Besnaiou (a Dior alum) is simply stunning! The only other place I've seen so many pieces that I'm dying for is at Cartier! Check-out her website (note though that it's still all in French), and start making a mental list of what you'll want come fall:)

Or, if you're truly looking to splurge there is an Haute Couture option where you can collaborate with the designer to sketch and design your dream piece.

Retail prices for pieces above -
Lune ring: $6,120
Lune earrings: $7,500
Bague Solitaire Fit ring : $5,850

Fancy Sexy Me

user-pic6

As a born and raised New Yorker I'm always into supporting local talent, so I was exciting when I found out about the line, Fancy Sexy Me, from a guest at an event recently. First off the name is genius! I would love for someone to ask me "where's your necklace from?" and for me to be able to answer "Fancy Sexy Me" - It's like an unintentional positive affirmation! The line is designed by Ronnie Aminov and Cynthia Catera and everything is hand-made in Williamsburg and in Manhattan. I'm particularly drawn to their gold pendant necklaces which range in price from about $40 to $70.

Rachel Leigh Jewelry

user-pic6

Rachel Leigh is best known for her bangles which you've likely seen everywhere from Bloomingdale's to Bergdorf, but the line has an endless array of bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings, hair accessories, and more. While her skinny bangles are great, I prefer buying things that a bunch of my friends don't already have (it's seriously incredible how this line has grown in just a few years!), which is why I'm loving the two bracelets above. The one on the left is ocean-inspired ($168) and has this wonderful vintage feel to it. It would look great stacked with some more bracelets or could work as a stand-alone piece depending on the outfit/time of day it's worn. In contrast, I love the spunk of the chunky gold bracelet ($132) on the right. Bibb necklaces are starting to get way too over-played, so this is a nice alternative.

Grayce by Molly Sims

user-pic6

grayce_molly_sims_site.jpg
Molly Sims proves with her Grayce by Molly Sims jewelry line that fabulous does not have to cost a fortune. In fact, you can be instantly chic for under $250. But don't let the lower price points deter you from purchasing if you are a jewel snob, the pieces are incredibly well made! I snatched up a dozen pieces at her trunk show last week and had so much fun mixing colors, shapes and metals-- what Molly is known for. Silver and gold liquid necklaces, bracelets, and eclectic gemstones cut in various facets and shapes are just a few highlights of this well edited collection inspired by vintage jewels Molly's mother has collected for a lifetime. Each piece feels utterly personal and it is clearly Molly's passion as she personally styled each of the 200+ guests that attended the show. I need to mention that Molly is one of the most warm and friendly celebs I have ever hosted an event for-- she is that gorgeous girl next door who everyone wants to be best friends with. Her genuine love for jewelry is also infectious and we wait with abated breath for her Fall trunk show! Check out the Grayce line here, I guarantee you will be tempted to pull out your credit cards the minute you see the pieces (so great for gifts!). See below for what I came home with.

ms_crystal_point_layered_necklace_1.jpgms_braided_metal_bracelet_silver.jpgms_metal_tassle_chain_earring.jpg

Crystal Point Layered Necklace for $195- My absolute FAVORITE necklace of the colletion, Molly showed us how to wear it long or twist and double it as a short piece-- SO CHIC!
Braided Metal Bracelet for $145- A friend of mine actually sent me a blank check to purchase pieces for her when she saw this bracelet(let's not mention that to her hubby though!).  It has a magnetic closure (brilliant!) and is a great daily piece.
Crystal Tassel Chain Earring for $115- Talk about a conversation piece, these earrings are disco worthy and perfect for a girls' night out!

ms_faceted_crystal_charm_bracelet.jpgms_triple_cab_stretch_cuff.jpgms_crown_jewel_ring.jpg
Faceted Crystal Charm Bracelet for $165- I got this bracelet in pink and mix it with another stone bracelet in green.  Molly and I decided this is our favorite color combo of the season.
Triple Cab Stretch Cuff for $150- Yup, this came home with me, too.  It's best worn layered with the crystal charm bracelets for that Parisian flair.
Crown Jewel Ring for $75- I got this for Kelly, she loves her a giant cocktail ring and it doesn't get bigger and better than this!

Now, GO SHOP!

Cate Blanchett in Van Cleef & Arpels

user-pic6
cate_blanchett.jpgvan_cleef_arpels.jpg

Cate Blanchett can do no wrong. The stunning Oscar-winning actress kicked off the Cannes Film Festival in grand style this week with a series of gorgeous ensembles--starting with an ice pink organza lamé cocktail dress by Giorgio Armani Privé that she complemented with a suite of jewels by Van Cleef & Arpels. For a press conference to promote her film, "Robin Hood," Blanchett wore an elegant pair of "Cordes" diamond earrings set in yellow gold, dating from 1953 and plucked from a private collection (she also wore a "Sabre Japonais" diamond bracelet set in yellow gold dating back to 1958). I love the braided effect of the rope detail on the earrings--down to their simple tassel effect. The gold contrasts beautifully with her sun-kissed hair and pale complexion; in short, it's true Hollywood elegance--minus any signs of conspicuous consumption. Blanchett has never been one to shy away from risk-taking, and these earrings, while not terribly outrageous, definitely do maintain a distinct aura to them.

Blake Lively's Chanel Logo Earrings: Snob or Slob?

user-pic6

blake-lively-and-chanel-logo-earrings-gallery.jpg

I wear these Chanel Logo Earrings ALL the time. I'm not a big in your face logo person (I use all the GG print bags I used to wear on a regular basis, up until a few years ago, as gym bags now...), for some reason when it comes to Chanel jewelry though I'm all about the big in your face logo. These earrings are under-stated (they're small and not high-shine), but I like the little pop of glitz they add. They're also super versatile, will never go out of style, and can be worn with just about anything.

Grayce by Molly Sims

user-pic6

The other day I headed over to the Bryant Park Hotel for an informal breakfast hosted by Molly Sims to celebrate the launch of the Grayce by Molly Sims website. The model's big, bold jewelry pieces were just what I needed to wake me up from my morning fog! Molly is super sweet and non-intimating despite her killer bod and looks (how is she in her mid-30s!? For sure thought she was in her late 20s). She was dressed in a floral DVF dress, Elizabeth and James black cardigan, flats, and layered in pieces from her Grayce line, which complemented her laid-back style very well. She said that she priced the line from $75-$250 to keep it accessible and when someone asked her what celeb she'd love to see one of her pieces on she said "I just want to see the line on everyone!" which I thought was great. Molly seemed truly passionate about her line and wanting women to feel good about themselves which was echoed in her honest answer about how she stays in shape. Unlike most models (ahem...Gisele), who say they eat whatever they want and barely exercise, Molly spoke candidly and said she works out a lot with Tracy Anderson and that it's hard and takes dedication. It was truly refreshing to hear her speak and to know that she has the same body issues as all of us do and you could tell she was passionate about the subject in particular when she spoke about the young models some of whom are just 70-something pounds - "I just wish they would eat something and then go work-out five days a week if they need to instead of just smoking 2 packs of cigarettes and drinking 10 cups of coffee." Kudos to the Vogue cover girl for speaking-up! More about her jewelry line after the jump!

Erickson Beamon Hoop Earrings

user-pic6

I've been very into Sophia Kokosalaki dresses lately...the gold, the draping, the effortless fits...when is she going to open a boutique in NYC!? Better yet when is she going to branch out into accessories? Hopefully now that she's heading-up the design team over at Diesel Black Gold she will get more of the attention she so rightly deserves and be able to grow her decade-old business. In the meantime these Erickson Beamon Swarovski-Embellished Hoop Earrings ($400) do the trick! They've got that Greek goddess feel that ties in well with many of Kokosalaki's designs and I like that Beamon opted to embellish them with pink Swarovski crystals to play off the gold-tone brass.

Winifred Grace's Fringe Jewelry

user-pic6

Rhinestone lovers you're going to go gaga over Winifred Grace's line! The designer is all about bunches of rhinestones and multi-chains and most of her pieces are vintage-inspired. They're bling-heavy, but not in an obnoxious in-your-face way (most pieces retail for between $150 and $450). They're a fun way to spice-up an outfit and the mix of gold, silver, and crystal make them easy to style.

Frugal Snob: Ben-Amun Jewelry

user-pic6

Odds are you've never heard of Ben-Amun, but if you've ever flipped through Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Marie Claire, or tuned your TV on to a red carpet, you've likely seen pieces from the collection. The brand has been in business for over 30 years and is designed by Isaac Manevitz who works extensively with lucite, pewter, glass, and crystal which help keep his pieces looking a lot pricier than they are (few pieces are over $400 and you can get many for as little as $60). Celebs love the line because they can wear pieces without having to worry about insurance, body guards etc. when they're doing casual on-air appearance. The line has also been used in Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, and Ralph Lauren shows.

A lot of the pieces aren't my style (a bit too boho), but click through the site and you'll find some wonderful costume pieces at prices that won't have you stressing!

Vannesa Tosoni Square Hoop Earrings

user-pic6

vanessa_tosoni.jpg

In the interest of full disclosure, Vannesa Tosoni is one of my best friends. I love her to death but I also think she is tremendously talented so there is no nepotism or bias for this feature. Just look at these, hammered gold square hoops, how awesome is that? I bought these as a gift for a friend of mine who is ultra picky and super chic and she loves these and wears them all the time. These are so easy to wear, you barely have to think on the day you wear these because they literally will go with everything. I love the texture of the hammered gold, it just adds so much intrigue to the already interesting shape for hoops. At Shop Rumor for $129. You can also email Vannesa for special orders, make sure you tell her Kelly sent you!

Lanvin Strawberry Earrings: Snob or Slob?

user-pic6

I love Lanvin jewelry (more so than even their handbags); it's super innovative and often vibrantly-colored and sassy. Plus you gotta give Lanvin credit for crafting bib necklace with bold accents way before they were the trend du jour. The one problem? The price. Yes, I know this is Lanvin we're talking about and they can't exactly offer their designs at frugal price points, but four figures for a fabric necklaces or $895 for the Lanvin Strawberry Earrings is just a tad outrageous!  I can't imagine that these red and green enameled brass strawberry-shaped earrings won't go on sale. Sure they're embellished with Swarovski crystals (though what isn't these days...), but who would wear these more than a handful of times? They're a fun gag when you're in a playful mood and nothing so reminiscent of Josephine Baker's banana costume should be priced at over $100.

Elizabeth and James Jewelry: Snob or Slob?

user-pic6
snake hoops.jpg

Elizabeth and James is one of my favorite contemporary brands, even if it's way over-priced given that the quality of the clothes aren't that great (most of the fabrics are so flimsy and thin that it's not uncommon for their pieces to get small holes after a few wears...and this is not only from my experience...unfortunately). While the design of the label's fashions may over-ride any issues of quality I have, I can't muster up the same love for their jewelry. Snakes are soooo over-done and while the feather motif that pops up in a number of their pieces is fine, they end up looking like pretty cheap-o pieces from Express (and from seeing the pieces the quality seems to match that aesthetic).

Eddie Borgo S/S 2010: Snob or Slob?

user-pic6

I've always found Eddie Borgo to be somewhat over-rated. His jewelry has a ridiculously prominent display at Bergdorf's and just last week it was announced that he is up against Dana Lorenz and Alexander Wang for the CFDA Swarovski Award for accessory design. Yes his pieces are fun and funky, but when you get down to it, they're really not all that original and certainly they don't seem priced appropriately (glass cuff for $625!? I'm sorry, but this cuff looks like it could have come from Girl Props). Plus the S/S 2010 collection is full of cone studs which Alexander Wang was doing over a year ago! Am I missing something? What do you think - Snob or Slob?

Loren Jewels

loron_jewels_bracelet_starfish_1.jpgloren_jewels_gold_earrings.jpg
loron_jewels_bracelet_starfish_1.jpgloren_jewels_gold_earrings.jpg
Loren Ridinger is an inspiration to all who know her. She not only founded Market America, she is the mastermind behind luxury beauty brand Motives Cosmetics.  (I'm a huge fan of all things Motives!) But it's her latest endeavor that has me excited today.  A collection of eclectic and glamorous jewels aptly named "Loren Jewels".  Each piece in this exquisite collection is created to the highest possible standard and handcrafted using only the finest materials and the most extraordinary gemstones in the world. The collection's focus is on precious metals and gemstones including diamond, pearl, blue sapphire, bakelite, tourmaline, rose quartz, emerald, black onyx, and tanzanite.

Loren Jewels were snapped up by Hollywood stars (think J.Lo, Eva Longoria Parker, Kim Kardashian and Alicia Keys) the minute they launched, with prices ranging from $750 to $100,000 there is literally something for everybody!  As for me, I'm obsessing over the Starfish Bracelet with 3.58cts. tw. diamond ($5,750.00)-- this is a cuff I can wrap on my wrist in jeans or a cocktail dress!  And of course I'll need these fabulous Earrings ($5,680) to go with them. I love the chic combo of oxidized silver and gold-- very old world glam! Check out the collection here at Loren Jewels, don't blame me if you want everything there!

Bottega Veneta Rosebud Earrings

user-pic6

For a goes-with-everything, every day pair of earrings these Bottega Veneta Oxidized Silver Rosebud Earrings ($390) fit the bill to a T. Light-weight, under-stated, and not so expensive that you have to be overly fretful that you might loose one, the rosebud earrings have a fluid look to them (even though they're silver!), that is totally in line with the supple Bottega leather we all love. My brother saw me oogling them and just promised me them for my upcoming birthday:)

The Woods Fine Jewelry: Simple Elegance

user-pic6
woods1.jpgwoods2.jpg

I was lunching at my favorite Dallas boutique (FortyFiveTen) last week and discovered the most amazing line of jewelry. The Woods Fine Jewelry, based in Aspen and designed by sisters Samantha Hitchcock and Shawn Hecox, is a stunning collection of jewels that juxtapose natural elements like wood, leather, ivory and even antler with old mine cut/Victorian diamonds. The talented duo created the venture three years ago and has since developed a cult following of jewel snobs with impeccable taste.

It began with a shared fascination with old mine cut/Victorian cut diamonds (you all know my love of old mine cut diamonds!) and they envisioned a line of jewelry that reflected their unfussy yet indulgent sensibilities. The collection also embodies the principles they loved in their favorite clothing designers, simple elegance with unexpected surprises. The burgeoning line is defined by contrast - accessibility/luxury, edgy/feminine. Celebrity clients include Charlize Theron, Ashley Olsen, and Kate Hudson.

The necklace I am dreaming about is the Grey Wood with Diamond Beads and Tahitian Pearls (above left, $4,400). The Woods Fine Jewerly pieces are meant to be worn together in multiple layers; it never looks fussy or unpretentious no matter how many pieces you stack on! Most of the charms are detachable and many are one of a kind. Bracelets and smaller necklaces start at $390. Call FortyFiveTen Boutique in Dallas to order! 214-559-4520

woods8.jpgwoods9.jpg
Look at the diamond set in the antler, so unexpected. I spent a good 30 minutes playing with the collection and layering different colors. The look is casual yet elegant, great with jeans or can be dressed up. So versatile!

Julianne Moore in Bvlgari at Golden Globes

user-pic6
67th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivalsbvlgarimoore.jpg

Wowza!! Julianne Moore had the privilege of wearing these incredible $3 million Bvlgari emerald earrings to the Globes for being in their Spring/Summer 2010 ad campaign (wearing the same earrings). The Colombian pear shaped emeralds weigh in at 52.86 and 62.32 carats. Colombia has the world's finest emeralds. My mother-in-law is Colombian so she makes sure I know this fact!! =) This pair of perfect emeralds were shown at Bvlgari's first retrospective exhibition at Il Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome last year. I wonder if she pulled a Sharon Stone number and kept them!!

Bottega Veneta Diams Earrings

user-pic6

bottegadiams1.jpgbottegadiams2.jpg

I saw these earrings at a Bottega trunk show in Beverly Hills a few months ago and ripped them right out of the display on to my own ears. I love chandelier earrings but it's difficult to carry off during the day, especially in diamonds!  But this pair, the Diams in oxydized silver from Bottega Veneta brings just enough drama for day without feeling over done. The silver is handmade to emulate delicate Victorian lace-- which also makes them look like vintage pieces.  For $460 it's an inexpensive way to add sparkle to your jewelry wardrobe!   At Bottegaveneta.com

Leslie Greene Sterling Collection

user-pic6

angelmccordannalynnemccord.jpglesliegreene_cuff_earrings.jpg

Leslie Greene is a red carpet regular, here her Sterling Silver Collection was seen at the "American's Next Top Model" wrap up party on model Angel McCord (with her sister, 90210 actress Annalynne McCord). The fantastic bold cuffs are great for adding extra volume without getting too complicated with stacking. The Hudson Cuff seen here is $1200. Also seen are the Bica Earrings with diamond embellishments - what a great way to get some bling without going all out, these are only $780. These chandeliers really grab your attention and the intricate craftsmanship will not betray your savings.

lesliegreene_levanacuff.jpglesliegreene_grandesashacuff.jpg

I love that she has the silver collection as a starting point for her line. The Silver Levana Cuff has the same details as well as .44 carats of diamonds but it is $1695 compared to the 18K gold and .93 carats of diamonds on the Grande Sasha Cuff for $12,895. Such a smart way to develop a line!

Tiffany & Co. 2009-2010 Blue Book Collection

user-pic6

tiffany_Double_Border_Diamond_Ring.jpg

Tiffany's Blue Book Collection was why Holly Golightly went all batty. This is their most precious of jewels and I was able to preview this collection at their Rodeo Drive store. Trying not to faint was a serious feat. Everything was beyond, but these few pieces caught my eye and imagination (wouldn't it be fantastic to just sleep with these?). For those waiting for that proposal, you can keep your eye and heart out for this 6.19 carat brilliant diamond - flawless and colorless with a double border diamond setting that enhances already giant size of the center stone. A cool $1,475,000 for the lucky man who buys this for his lovely lady.

Tiffany_Schlumberger_Jardinet_Bracelet.jpg

Tiffany brought back many pieces from legendary designer, Jean Schlumberger.  This flower Jardinet Diamond Bracelet in 18K gold is one of the exceptional pieces with amazingly intricate details, so gorgeous you can't believe your eyes!!  For $320,000.

tiffany_Diamond_and_Platinum_Drop_Earrings.jpgThese diamond earrings set in platinum are blingy and fabulous but the best part is that you can wear them every day.  Why invest in something that only gets to come out and play a couple of times a year?  Imagine these with jeans and a sweater.  Rock it out with a mini skirt and boots.  Anything you wear will surely benefit from these dazzlers.  The Pendulum Diamond Drop Earrings are $35,000, Swirl Diamond Drop Earrings are $35,000 and my favorite, the simple but stunning Teardrop Diamond Drop Earrings are $40,000.

tiffany_aquamarinebowbrooch.jpg

What can be more Tiffany than a blue box with perfect ribbons?  How about an enormous Aquamarine with Diamond and Platinum Bow Brooch?  I don't know the exact weight but it was a good 1 1/2" tall.  Totally fun and shows you're true Tiffany fanatic!  For $100,000.  To purchase any of these, contact your closest Tiffany store.

Well, I've fallen for all of the pieces in the new fall collection from Jose & Maria Barrera. These teardrop earrings with Austrian crystal detail and agate are gorgeous - and for only $215, I think they're quite the bargain.

Tiffany's Exclusive Blue Book Collection

user-pic6

Tiffany_Cobblestone_Bracelet_and_Earrings.jpgEach year in November, Tiffany & Co. unveils a special collection comprised of approximately 100 pieces, most of which are one-of-a-kind with a few exceptions that are replicated in very limited quantity. The vast majority of the pieces sell the first weekend, with many pieces ranging from $10,000 to well over 6 million.

I happened to try this Cobblestone bracelet on while at Tiffany & Co. last week - and let's just say that the picture hardly does it justice. It is a remarkable piece, the weight of which feels incredibly luxurious on your wrist. It is a subtle replica, (they are never exact), of one of the pieces from last year's Blue Book Collection. Featuring exquisite rose cut green tourmalines, aquamarines and diamonds, the bracelet retails for $86,500 and the earrings for $19,500. The millegrain detail surrounding each individual stone is remarkable. Yet another example of Tiffany & Co.'s flawless craftsmanship and timeless style. If you'd like to visit with it in person, you should take a trip to Two Rodeo in Beverly Hills.

Jose & Maria Barerra Chandelier Earrings

Much like statement necklaces, I am thrilled to see that chandelier earrings are also here for the long-haul. When they're as intricate and well-adorned as these Jose & Maria Barerra White Chandelier Earrings, they lend so much dimension to a look - and can serve as the sole accessory of what would otherwise be a dull outfit. With 24k gold plating and delicate Austrian crystals and seed beads, these earrings are a great bet for $340.
