After experimenting in sculpting, drawing, and painting, Steven Lagos developed more than an appreciation for fine art. The now-master jeweler started his Lagos line in 1977. He cites the wearer of his jewels as “elegant, timeless, and classic.” Isn’t that what we all aspire to? The enticingly titled Caviar collection nails it.
Tiny, decadent fish egg-esque beads adorning earrings, bracelets, rings, and necklaces are his signature trademark. The hundreds of steps in handcrafting the “caviar” are evident in the quality and allure they exude. It creates a luxuriant sculpture of texture set in sterling silver with 18-karat gold.
Many pieces feature diamonds for a touch of added opulence, like the X Collection hoop earrings ($795). The sterling silver caviar beads are accented with an 18-karat gold and diamond X-station that make these hoops eye-catching. They’ll easily dress up jeans with a starched white shirt or enhance an old LBD. The Diamond X Rope bracelet ($2,995) is a divine partner for the earrings. It boasts three diamond-and-gold X-stations. The Interlude Fluted ring ($995), with five waves of gold swerving atop a Y-based caviar band, makes for a unique statement that won’t throw off your other rings. For a necklace, you can really go for it with the 16” Double Row X necklace ($2,195); it wraps your throat in caviar galore, along with nine 18-karat gold adornments. Or keep it simple with the single-stranded X Station necklace ($895). I knew I loved bubbly – now I must have some caviar, too!
