When something is basically covered in jewels does it become jewelry? In the case of Dolce & Gabbana’s very jewel-licious stretch-tulle bustier, I have to say yes. Besides, a scant bustier isn’t much of a garment anyway. But festive things can come in small packages, and this baby is as celebratory as it gets. A Mardi-Gras parade’s worth of rainbow-like colors catapult the “wow” factor of this already-sexy piece to about 100 on a scale of one to ten.
So it might be a little too editorial-fantastic to wear in real life – actually, this would be fab for a “New Year’s Eve in Vegas” spread. And the double-take-inducing price most certainly is. But if you styled it a la Madonna in her “Express Yourself” era (and if you have buckets of cash to have decadent, harmless fun with), alongside wide, menswear-inspired trousers and a close-fitting, coordinating blazer, then you might be onto something chic.
